Sand Control

TAQA's range of sand-control screens and its rigless-deployable remedial solution, Filtrex.

Filtrex
A unique technology designed to transit tight restrictions within the upper completion, then expand and conform to larger casing/screen IDs where sand control is required. Filtrex has the flexibility to be conveyed riglessly on coiled tubing/pipe, E-line or slickline. The key to the technology is the use of an innovative open-cell matrix polymer (OCMP) for sand retention, enabling the tool to be fully compressed during deployment and, once at depth, allowed to expand to fill the annular gap. The tortuous flow path and polymeric nature of the OCMP baffles the energy from sand-grain impingement, resulting in an erosion-resistant filtration system.
Features:
· COMPRESSIBLE — can be deployed through tight restrictions then conform to large ID.
· Polymeric — erosion- and chemical-resistant filter.
· DEGRADABLE compression sleeve — enables coverage of long sections.
· FLEXIBLE — can be designed for most completion architectures.
Applications:
· Filling the annular gap prevents further sand ingress and holds the sand in place.

Features:
· Designed for stand-alone, cased hole, open hole and gravel-pack completions.
· Full range of micron ratings available, which can be customised for all well requirements.
· TAQA offers custom-designed screens qualified to ISO 17824.
Applications:
· Can be deployed as a stand-alone option (FloMax) or in conjunction with TAQA's passive (FloRight) or autonomous ICD nozzles (FloSure).
· Available as FloMax Direct (stand-alone), FloRight Direct (with ICD) and FloSure Direct (with AICD) configurations.

FloElite

· ISO 17824 V1 Qualified.
Applications:
· Compatible with stand-alone screen, gravel-pack and ICD completion designs.
· Lighter, for easier deployment in a horizontal well.

FloUltra
A premium sand screen range that provides ultimate sand retention and fines tolerance. Uses an innovative press-fit assembly method to ensure the highest burst and collapse ratings of the premium mesh layers; multi-layer design for support, drainage, filtration, convergence and protection. Can be used along with TAQA's SealRight and SwellRight open-hole packers to compartmentalise zones for maximum sand control. Qualified to ISO 17824 V1.
Features:
· Complete merging of the layers through press-fit.
· Inner shroud for back-up sand control and flow convergence.
· Available with a range of premium quality dutch and reverse dutch twill weaves.
· ISO 17824 V1 Qualified.
Applications:
· Compatible with stand-alone screen, gravel-pack and ICD completion designs.
· Ultimate formation and plugging resistance.
· Ultimate mechanical strength.

FloShroud
Designed to offer sand control for carbonate reservoirs while being a cost-effective solution compared to a standard wire-wrap or premium mesh screen. The debris filter is a shroud which provides a protective barrier for large sand particles ranging from 400–1000 micron, preventing any ingress to inflow control valves. The dimple design provides a 3mm stand-off drainage layer for fluid and is welded onto the pipe holding it in place.
Features:
· Field adjustable.
· Can be integrated with TAQA's inflow control valves.
· Dimple shroud design.
Applications:
· Can be tailored from 400–1000 microns.
· Prevents any plugging of inflow control valves.
· Typically used in carbonate reservoirs where sanding is not a concern.

FloTextra
Provides the flexibility to be used for a wide range of reservoir sands while providing a large open flow area for fluid production. Designed with non-uniform pore openings, enabling the screen to retain a large range of particle sizes. The inner layer is based on an innovative punch pattern with a 400μm opening to minimise plugging while running in hole. Integral centralisers ensure proper stand-off to the base pipe. The filter media is installed onto the inner layer and fully protected by an outer shroud. The multi-layer design provides a large open flow area of up to 40%.
Features:
· Includes an inner shroud to provide 3mm stand-off to the base pipe.
· Filter wrapped directly onto shroud.
· Filter covers a large range of particle sizes.
· 92% porosity.
Applications:
· 40% open flow area.
· Variety of base pipe sizes from thru-tubing applications to 9-5/8".
· Multiple compression ratings of the filter dependent on application.
· Cost-effective.

FloMax Disc
Can be used in stand-alone, cased-hole and open-hole applications. Features high-quality premium weave inserts and robust mounting into the base pipe for reliable, simple installation. The smaller OD makes it ideal for tight-hole applications. The premium mesh insert is press-fit into place and pull-tested for strength and reliability. The open flow area can be varied to match well productivity by altering disc size and number.
Features:
· Slim OD design as an alternative to slotted liner or conventional screens.
· Variable open flow area to match well productivity, from 6% to 20% OFA.
· Premium screen filtration with high-quality weave and a range of micron ratings.
· High tensile, torsional and collapse strength.
· Ability to rotate, reciprocate and circulate through tight-hole conditions.
· No additional centralisation required.
Applications:
· Improved well productivity with smaller base pipe sizes.
· Lower completion cost.
· Longer well life.
